I just grew
A little confused
Ever since we’ve been apart.
Daydreaming about the way things are–
I’ve seen love go by my door.
I struggled through barbed wire
She did whatever she had to do
We had a falling out, like lovers often will
Not a word was spoken between us
But she got all the love.
I’ve seen pretty people disappear like smoke
Burned out from exhaustion
I see a lot of people–
I’ve seen that face somewhere.
They say the darkest hour is
right before the dawn
It’s never been this close before
I can’t help it if I’m lucky
But I can make it through.
How long must I wait?
Because I was born too late
