writing ‘cherry whine’

I kept my poetry and photography separate for a majority of the time as I didn’t see any need for them to exist alongside each other, but rather maintain their individual integrity (or potential lack thereof). Even still, unlike my photography, which was very publicly visible, I always kept my poetry less accessible (besides showing my dad and one of my friends (and a weird poetry website)), but I don't even know why that is since I don't harbour any embarrassment or anything similar from what I've written... It's probably just not wanting to hear people's interpretations if they paint the speaker, often me, as vulnerable.

Back on track, when I started ‘writing’ cherry whine which may be a poor word to use as it wasn’t exactly a sit-down writing process, but rather collating previously written poems, a lot of editing, and learning how to use the program Blurb – I realised I’d need a front cover for it, and then I realised I’d need a back cover… and then a dust jacket wrap. First instinct was obviously to use my own photos I’d taken there would be no copyright worry or fear of stealing, and it would make the text more of my own, in both a textual and visual sense.

All of this is kind of irrelevant to both my poetry and photography, but WordPress insisted that I have an introductory blog-type post so here we are. I guess this is a behind the scenes sort of thing to a degree - the 'making of' my rookie poetry collection.

Anyway, Blurb is taking all the money from sales so not really profiting off of it - but I'm pretty apathetic about the $$$. I just think it's really cool that people can own text that I've written and photos I've taken in a physical form if they wish to.

So yeah, buy it if you want. Or don't if you don't.
Shipping is pretty expensive and undermines the actual low price of the book. But if you do buy it, I appreciate the support and hope you understand literally how cool this all is to me. Oh, and I hope the actual poetry is, at the least, interesting.
